SKMC is a church plant of the
Chinese Annual Conference (CAC) of the Methodist Church in Singapore. The
initial group who were called to begin the work were members from the three
CAC churches - Paya Lebar Chinese, Gloria Methodist and Hakka Methodist.

The
three churches rallied together to realise the Sengkang Methodist Church
Independently and unknown to each other (but instrumented by God in His
own timing), each of the three churches had received a common vision for
Sengkang. Eventually, their work led to the constituting of the Sengkang
Methodist Church on 10th September 2000.

"In
accordance to the Discipline and the Constitution of the Methodist Church
in Singapore, I announced the establishment of Sengkang Methodist Church,
for the glory of God, the preaching of the Gospel and service to
mankind" - Reverend Seow Choon Seng, District Superintendent , East
On that day, 142 members from Gloria Methodist Church, Hakka Methodist
Church and Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church formed the new Sengkang
Methodist Church.
Even before the church building was ready in December 2002, it was
already a light and blessing to the residents of Sengkang new town
One such example is Oikos.Community@Sengkang, a group of volunteers from
the church, led by Reverend Lek Yong Teck (Pastor-in-charge of SKMC).Their
scope of work includes providing pre-examination tuition, post-examination
activities, counseling services and organising special projects. (Find out more about Oikos)

Oikos.Community@Sengkang is one of the
many groups of volunteers ministering at Sengkang.
The site for the church building was successfully tendered on 25th
November 1999, costing $8.2 million dollars. After the successful tender,
various fundraising ventures were launched to gather the financial
resources to make SKMC a reality. (Find
