| Oikos.Community@Sengkang
(Oikos) is a social service arm of Sengkang Methodist Church (SKMC).
We are commited to serve the residents of Sengkang. In this commitment
we specifically seek to
- Encourage and assist to develop greater family stability and
cohesiveness.
- Provide understanding, care and support for families in need..
- Help develop youths to become responsible adults/citizens especially
in the areas of education and character building.
- To develop programs to meet the needs of children, youth, families
and ages and to provide support for these special groups, both
at the remedial and preventive levels.
- Encourage and facilitate greater social/community cohesiveness
and mutual care and concern.

Oikos has also volunteered in a Secondary School for the last
4 years helping in anyway to build the lives of the students
in the school. We gave a be-frienders' program, counselling
services. We partner the teachers to organise camps like the
Sec One Orientation, sports leaders, etc. |

We have just recently completed a joint overnight cycling
project together
with the Compassvale CC, the NorthEast CDC, CSC, PAYM and RC. |

The program was successful in that it helped the people in
Sengkang to forge new ties as well as to help foster family
togetherness as families signed up as a team together. |

Fans Thru CANS, another community project done with the support
of the Anchorvale CC, Compassvale CC, and the RC. The aim of
this project was to help the needy people within Sengkang to
obtain some level of help by collecting and distributing food
to them. |
